Door flashing is installed to provide protection from potential damage from water. The door flashing will keep water from damaging the wood piece that the door rests on. It will also prevent damage to the floor joists. Using a peel-and-stick type of adhesive flashing, cover the area under the door. Be sure that you seal the areas at the corners where the walls and floor meet with the flashing. The last piece of door flashing should extend over the wood’s exterior edge. This type of installation technique will cause any water to run off, where a flush installation would still permit water to enter the structure.
